Les Techno: "Come Along" Review

Les Techno is back, this time with a complete package that’s swaggy and cool. This mad genius presents songs of social satire with sonic influences that range from electric guitar psychedelia to 80’s punk wave and hip-hoppy grooves. The thought-provoking lyrics blend perfectly with a snaky bass and solid kick.

This killer track exhibits post-punk brilliance with some dose of garage rock. The track launches as the bass rumbles so quickly before the synths drape over the pulsating beat. “Come Along” is packed with energy and vibrancy from the city that never sleeps.

We all know that the essence of what constitutes compelling music is – groove, harmony, melody – all which are masterfully mixed into a perfect combo. However, this track leans heavier into the psychedelic left field.

Whenever I listen to Les Techno’s vocals, he reminds me of Karl Wallinger (World Party) both stylistically and in terms of sound. This springs from his fluidity in the way he delivers that works in his music. “Come Along” is an inventive concoction that again layers sounds and rhythms.

Les Techno is based in New York City and he’s known for singing in the usual punk rock hangouts, with the likes of Love Posse and Sim-Sim bands. It’s without a doubt that he learned how to work with analog synthesizers with those round, big knobs, razor blades and a grease pencil in order to make murky discordant music at an elegant university.

The song captures the feeling that a humorous scene set in the hot weather of New York, with heels and skirts at the office, while the boys at the trading desk get distracted. Les Techno’s music can be described as post-punk and synth-pop. The other thing I found Impressive about Les Techno is the fact that he is a multi-instrumentalist. Capable of playing Moog synthesizer, electric and acoustic guitar, drums, and bass.
